The food that we eat is likely to have great effects on our health.
Scientific research tends to focus on the effects of specific food ingredients, partly to explore their pharmaceutical properties, for commercial purposes. Health claims are often based on the properties of such specific ingredients or on statistics in which too many other factors play a role. Such claims therefore are too often conflicting.
To surpass that, the Disease and Diet Foundation aims to finance animal studies investigating the long term effects of a specific diet on health and lifespan.
Currently we support a study that will test the validity of the excessive calcium hypothesis, regarding osteoporosis.
